Q What is minimum requirements for playing Will Of Steel?

Q After installing the game, it will not start.

A A complete list of your hardware/software configuration would be of great help in our efforts to localize the problem.
If you are not sure about your PC specifications, you can use this tool (included in Windows XP):
Open your start menu in windows, choose run -> and type in dxdiag -> select the Display tab
In the first line you’ll see the manufacturer and model of your video card - compare it with the list of supported models.
If your card is supported, save all information and send it to us as dxdiag.txt attachement.

a) DirectX 9 - Do you have the latest version installed? If not, you can get it from Microsoft's website at:

b) Codec and/or latest drivers - Do you have the newest versions installed? If not, you can get them at:

Q I am having problems with the copy protection system - "Please insert original disk" (or similar)

A Please keep the game CD in the drive at all times - while the game installs as when you try to start it.

Sometimes when you install the game, the installation is remembered in the system registry. Go to your system registry, remove all entries (registration codes) you find related to Will of Steel and try to reinstall the game. If possible, try  to install the game on another machine and see what the response is.

If you bought the game from GMX Media (in UK) please contact Steven Harding at steven@gmxmedia.net. He should be able to provide more information since they put the protection system in (we are only the game developer).
 
If you bought the game in US (from Trisynergy), please contact Star Force at support@star-force.com. Their protection system is in the US version of the game and it is keyless meaning there is no CD key, the computer just checks if the original disk is in the drive.

Q "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.DLL was not found. Re-install the application may fix this problem."

A The file "MSVCR71.DLL" is included with your Will of Steel CD-ROM. However, on some configurations the installation process may not automatically copy the file to its proper location. In that case the file can be copied manually. You can get the file from our downloads section or by clicking here - simply run it and it will do the job for you.

Q "direct show graph! hr=0x887601c2"

A Try to change the launch parameter of the game (this  will skip all the movies and missing codecs).
Go to the game icon shortcut and right click>properties>target change it to:"c:\Program Files\GMX Media\Will Of Steel\Bin\WOS\Game.exe" /skipintro

Q How do I connect a headset to PC?

A It's very simple to connect a microphone or a computer headset/handset with a built-in microphone to your sound card. You simply plug-in the microphone and speakers leads to your sound card (usually located on the backside of computer). If you are using a computer headset/handset (recommended), with a built-in microphone, the plugs usually have a marking on them (or they're color-coded) to indicate which lead is for the microphone, so you just cant mix them.

After that, you should adjust the microphone sensitivity or/and activate if it is not already on. Go to "Volume" controls, usually beside system clock> Open volume control> Options> Properties

Q I was wondering if any directions came with the game. There was none in my box.

A There is no printed manual in the box. However, you can finda  digital (.PDF) version of manual and Quick Reference Card (QRC). Here are default paths to them:

Q I noticed blue zones on some mini maps. What do they stand for?

A All checkpoints in game are indicated as blue zones on the minimap. Therefore, you must lead your units into the blue zone in order to successfully finish the mission.

Q I cannot find visual settings for Will Of Steel.

A Configuration menu is set apart from the game and it contains:

Resolution settings
Refresh Rate settings
Texture quality settings
Shadow map quality settings
Unit Tracks checkbox
Shadow Map filtering (pixel shaders 2.0 only) checkbox
Force 1.1 shaders option
